Unit 1: Computer System

This unit introduces students to the fundamental concepts of computer systems and their evolution. It covers the characteristics, applications, types, architecture, organization, memory, processors, storage devices, input and output devices, and hardware interfaces. Students develop a clear understanding of how different components of a computer work together to process, store, and communicate information.

Unit 2: Number System and Boolean Logic

This unit focuses on number systems used in computing and the fundamentals of Boolean logic. Students learn decimal, binary, octal, and hexadecimal number systems, including their conversions and arithmetic operations. It also introduces Boolean algebra, truth tables, logic gates, Boolean expressions, and important Boolean laws used in digital computer systems.

Unit 3: Computer Software and Operating System

This unit provides an understanding of computer software and operating systems. Students explore system software, utility software, application software, and mobile applications. It also covers operating system functions, Windows operating systems, file and device management, open-source operating systems, Linux, UNIX, and mobile operating systems, helping students understand how software manages computer hardware and resources.

Unit 4: Application Package

This unit introduces commonly used application packages and their practical applications. Students learn about word processors, presentation tools, spreadsheets, and database management systems. It also introduces domain-specific software such as school management, inventory, payroll, accounting, hotel management, and weather forecasting systems, helping students understand how software is used to solve practical problems.

Unit 5: Programming Concepts and Logics

This unit introduces the fundamental concepts of programming and problem-solving. Students learn about programming languages, compilers, interpreters, algorithms, flowcharts, pseudocode, errors, and control structures. The unit also introduces C programming, including data types, variables, operators, input/output, decision-making, loops, arrays, and strings, providing a foundation for developing computer programs.

Unit 6: Web Technology I

This unit introduces students to the fundamentals of web technology and website development. It covers web browsers, search engines, Internet technologies, content management systems, HTML, HTML tags, attributes, lists, tables, forms, multimedia elements, graphics, domain names, and web hosting. Students also learn CSS and its different methods for designing and formatting web pages.

Unit 7: Multimedia

This unit introduces the concept and components of multimedia technology. Students learn how text, graphics, audio, video, and animation are combined to create digital content. It covers bitmap and vector graphics, digital audio and video formats, typography, animation concepts, and multimedia tools, helping students understand how multimedia is created, represented, edited, and used in digital communication.

Unit 8: Information Security and Cyber Law

This unit develops awareness of information security, computer ethics, cybercrime, and cyber law. Students learn about digital society, security threats, malware, phishing, spam, encryption, cybersecurity measures, firewalls, antivirus software, copyright, patents, trademarks, digital signatures, and cyber law in Nepal. It also introduces Nepal's ICT policy and responsible use of digital technology.
